Welcome to Alternative Provision
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Our vision is to provide a high quality, effective and inclusive alternative provision and to provide educational and learning environments for challenging and vulnerable children. We focus on individual needs within a safe, friendly and nurturing environment.
Our aim is to encourage independence, promote self-worth and enable achievement.
For some students mainstream education is not suitable, therefore Alternative Provision can develop a more personalised learning programme. It is hoped that this will meet the needs of the individual student and give them a chance to re-engage with education. By placing a child into provision we are encouraging inclusion in education, and also giving the student a chance to achieve.
The majority of our students are in year 10 and 11 (key stage 4). We take new students throughout the year. Our students are not all educated at the same place. Each student has their own timetable, and they may attend two or three different education provisions during the week.
There are many different subject areas offered by our providers. Students can learn practical skills that may lead them into further education, training and eventual employment. All students take Functional Skills in numeracy and literacy. They also have an element of personal, social and emotional development built into their timetable. All of our education providers have been approved by the Local Authority, in terms of health & safety and inspections are regularly carried out to ensure that we offer good or outstanding quality provisions.
We work with providers to prepare students for further education or training at the end of Year 11.
