Alternative Provision Team
The Alternative Provision Team provide a high quality, effective and inclusive alternative educational pathways and learning environments for challenging and vulnerable pupils that have been permanently excluded from education. We focus on individual needs within a safe and friendly environment.
For some students education within AVESC's site bases is not suitable, therefore an Alternative Provision pathway can develop a more personalised learning programme that meet the needs of the individual student and give them a chance to re-engage with education.
The majority of our students are in Key Stage 4 and new students come on roll throughout the academic year. Pupils are not educated in the same educational environment, each student has their own timetable, and they may attend two or three different education provisions during the week, educated on a AVESC site or in the pupils home.
There are many different subject areas offered by our providers. Students can learn both academic and practical skills that may lead them into further education, training and eventual employment. All students take Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT. They also have an element of personal, social and emotional development built into their timetable. All of our alternative education providers are rigorously quality assured to ensure high educational standards.
Our goal is to ensure pupils engage in further education or training at the end of Year 11.
